I Downloaded My Facebook Data and It Got Weird Fast

Have you ever looked at how much info you hand to FB in the day to day use of your FB account? Those ‘likes’ and other ’emotion’ responses that you give to posts that fill your timeline.

The off the cuff comment you make to a comment that someone else (who you don’t know) to let them know how much you agree/disagree with them.

The fact that you feel compelled to ‘check in’ to every place you go to let your friends know that you’re having a good time and that you’re enjoying yourself.

I mean, really, have you ever thought about downloading your data from FB? …..

 

How far does it go back? What does it contain? Who has access to it? Will it make me feel old?

The idea popped into my head among mounting headlines around the alleged misuse of personal Facebook user data by analytics firm Cambridge Analytica. I wanted to know what, exactly, those potentially in possession of my data might know about me — so despite the trepidation, I downloaded it anyway.
